Stainless Steel Cabinets & Enclosures

Stainless steel cabinets and enclosures protect fibre joints, copper connections and telecommunications equipment in demanding infrastructure environments. The range includes FURS boxes, all-metal 24F splice enclosures up to 864F high-capacity Passcomm FOSE products and XCNR1 cabinets configured with FIST-GCO2-F or BUDI fibre-management systems.

The stainless steel construction gives trackside cabinets the strength and durability needed for exposed rail environments. It helps protect internal equipment against impact, vandalism, vibration, moisture, dust, corrosion and changing temperatures. Its rigid construction also supports secure mounting and controlled access, while its corrosion resistance can reduce maintenance requirements and extend the service life of the cabinet.

Where are stainless steel cabinets and enclosures used?

These products are used across railways, underground transport networks, tunnels, highways, utilities and other critical infrastructure. Manufactured from durable materials such as 316L stainless steel, selected enclosures can withstand moisture, dust, corrosion and frequent operational use while providing secure access for installation, jointing and maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a splice enclosure and an XCNR1 cabinet?

Passcomm splice enclosures are designed primarily to protect and manage fibre splices. XCNR1 products combine copper and fibre connectivity within one cabinet, with separate access from opposite sides. Depending on the configuration, the fibre side can contain either a FIST-GCO2-F closure or a BUDI-M fibre-distribution unit.

What fibre capacities are available?

The range includes compact 24F enclosures and higher-capacity FOSE configurations. Passcomm FOSE products use the established FIST fibre-management system and can be adapted to different capacity and cable-management requirements. Confirm the required fibre count, configuration and dimensions with Hybrid Connectivity before ordering.

Do you supply PADS-approved products?

Yes. Hybrid Connectivity supplies PADS-approved products for Network Rail applications. Approval applies to specific products and configurations rather than the entire range, so the required PADS status should be confirmed against the project specification.

How do I choose the correct cabinet or enclosure?

Consider the fibre and copper capacity, cable entry requirements, mounting location, access arrangement, environmental conditions and applicable transport or infrastructure standards. Hybrid Connectivity can review the specification and configure an enclosure around the project’s connectivity, installation and maintenance requirements.

Why choose Hybrid Connectivity?

Hybrid Connectivity has more than 25 years of experience supplying and developing infrastructure connectivity for organisations including Network Rail, Siemens, Alstom, Atkins and Boldyn. Relevant projects include stainless steel fibre splice enclosures for the London Underground, PADS-approved trackside cabinets for Irish Rail and bespoke stainless steel enclosures for the UK nuclear sector.

Are the cabinets suitable for outdoor or underground use?

Selected products are designed for trackside, roadside, tunnel and underground environments, but suitability depends on the enclosure’s material, IP rating, seals, cable entries and installed configuration. Some products have specific mounting, access or site-approval requirements, which should be checked before selection. You can check our datasheets or make an enquiry to find out which one is right for your project.
